Greenwood, SC Renovation
The client's need for more space and their want for more style was the catalyst for the transformation of this 1970's-era ranch house located in Greenwood, S.C. The young family was short on bedroom and work space, and a dedicated area for their children to play.
The existing salt-water pool and mature pecan trees dictated the expanded footprint. The new master suite enjoys views of the backyard, and the angled wing of the master bath creates a courtyard effect around the pool. A new light-filled family room further engages the pool and gardens while allowing the original family room space to take on new life as a playroom and children's study.
Some of the most important space added was vertical. The original house's low ceilings have given way to soaring vaults, detailed coffers, and dramatic trays. Beautifully trimmed cased openings, extensive wainscoting, and multi-piece crown moldings enrich the spaces and add a level of detail that the house lacked previously.
The exterior of the house has been given no less attention in this remake. A columned front porch with stone accents provides a much needed sense of arrival and entry. Painted shakes, bracketed gable vents, and multi-level stone foundations mix to give the home the curb appeal the clients desired. The transformation out back is just as dramatic, and no less detailed. Two new porches and gables filled with high glass compliment the free form pool and lush landscaping.
